AI Credits

AI features in Assistant Coach — response drafts, workout coverage, meal photo estimates, form review, and trend analysis — are powered by a monthly credit system. Each AI action costs a set number of credits, and your allowance resets at the start of every month.

How credits work

Your monthly AI credit allowance depends on your plan:

PlanMonthly credits
Free15 credits
Starter100 credits
Pro500 credits

Different AI features cost different amounts:

FeatureCredits per use
Check-in response draft1 credit
Workout plan coverage analysis1 credit
Meal photo AI estimate1 credit
Client trend analysis3 credits
AI workout form review3 credits

Credits are deducted when the AI action completes successfully. If something goes wrong mid-generation (a timeout or server error), the credits are returned to your balance — you're only charged for successful results.

Checking your usage

Go to Settings and look for the AI Usage section. You'll see:

  • Credits used — How many credits you've consumed this month
  • Progress bar — Visual indicator of your usage. It shifts from green to amber past 70%, and red past 90%
  • Reset date — When your credits refresh (always the 1st of the next month, midnight UTC)

You'll also see a small credit note after AI actions showing how many credits that action consumed and how many you have left.

What happens when credits run out

When you've used all your credits for the month:

  • AI buttons remain visible, but attempting to use them will show an inline message explaining that credits are exhausted
  • The message tells you when credits will refresh
  • No error toast or disruptive popup — just a calm notice in context
  • Your existing drafts and analysis results are unaffected

Buying a one-time top-up

Run out of AI credits on the free plan? You can buy a one-time top-up without changing your plan:

  • 40 credits for £5
  • 100 credits for £10
  • 250 credits for £20

Top-up credits never expire. Assistant Coach always uses your monthly credits first, then uses any top-up credits you have left. You can buy another completed pack whenever you need one.

Go to Settings → Billing → AI credit top-ups, choose a pack, and select Buy top-up. If a checkout is already processing, wait a moment before trying again.

Upgrading is different from buying a top-up. A top-up is a one-time purchase of extra AI credits. A paid plan gives you more credits every month and unlimited clients.

When credits reset

Credits reset on the 1st of each month at midnight UTC. Unused monthly credits do not roll over — each month starts fresh with your plan allowance. Purchased top-up credits do not expire.

Tips for managing credits

Response drafts are cheap. At 1 credit each, you can draft responses for most of your roster every week and still have credits left.

Trend analysis is more expensive but less frequent. At 3 credits, it's designed for periodic deep dives — not something you'd run on every client every week. Use it when you want to review a client's trajectory before a planning session or when something feels off and you want the data synthesized.

Meal and form reviews are best used intentionally. Meal photo estimates use 1 credit and workout form reviews use 3 credits. Use them where the AI can save real review time or help you catch something subtle.

Edit drafts instead of regenerating. If a draft is close but needs tweaks, edit it manually rather than regenerating. Each regeneration costs another credit.
