Connecting AI Tools
This guide walks you through connecting ChatGPT or Claude to your Assistant Coach account so you can query your coaching data conversationally.
MCP connections are available to coaches only. Clients cannot connect AI tools to their portal.
Before you start
You'll need:
- An Assistant Coach coach account
- A ChatGPT paid plan (Plus, Pro, Team, or Enterprise) or a Claude paid plan (Pro, Max, Team, or Enterprise)
The connection uses your MCP Server URL, which you can find in Settings → Connected Apps.
Connecting ChatGPT
- Open ChatGPT and go to Settings
- Navigate to Settings → Apps → Advanced Settings and enable Developer mode
- Go to Settings → Apps → Create app
- Enter a name (e.g., "AssistantCoach") and paste your MCP Server URL:
https://app.assistantcoach.fit/mcp— leave the optional authentication fields empty - Click Create
- You'll be redirected to Assistant Coach to sign in (if not already)
- Review the access request — it will ask for read-only access to your coaching data
- Click Allow to grant access
- You're connected. Go back to ChatGPT and start asking questions.
Connecting Claude
- Open Claude and go to Settings
- Navigate to Connectors
- Click Add custom connector
- Enter your MCP Server URL:

- You'll be redirected to Assistant Coach to sign in (if not already)
- Review the access request — it will ask for read-only access to your coaching data
- Click Allow to grant access
- You're connected. Go back to Claude and start asking questions.
Using the connection
Once connected, you can ask your AI tool questions about your coaching data in natural language. The AI will automatically query Assistant Coach to find the answers.
Example conversations
Client overview:
"Give me a summary of all my active clients and their current status"
Check-in analysis:
"What did Sarah report in her last check-in? How does it compare to the previous week?"
Trend spotting:
"Which clients have been losing weight consistently over the past month?"
Program review:
"What's in David's current workout plan? How many sessions per week?"
Planning help:
"I need to update Maria's meal plan. What are her current macros and what did she say about hunger in her last check-in?"
Cross-client insights:
"Which clients mentioned energy issues or fatigue in their recent check-ins?"
The more specific your question, the more useful the answer. But even broad questions like "How are my clients doing?" can give you a useful snapshot.
Managing connections
Viewing connected apps
Go to Settings → Connected Apps to see all AI tools currently connected to your account. Each shows:
- The app name and icon
- When it was connected
- A Disconnect button
Disconnecting an app
If you want to revoke access:
- Go to Settings → Connected Apps
- Click Disconnect next to the app
- Confirm the disconnection
Access is revoked immediately. The AI tool will no longer be able to read your coaching data. You can reconnect anytime by going through the setup process again.
Frequently asked questions
Can the AI modify my data? No. The connection is strictly read-only. AI tools can view your data but cannot create, edit, or delete anything — not clients, not plans, not responses.
Can other coaches see my data through their AI connection? No. Each connection is scoped to your account only. Your clients' data is only accessible through your authenticated connection.
What if I change my password? Your AI connection remains active. It uses separate authentication tokens that aren't tied to your password.
Does this cost extra? No. The MCP integration is included with your Assistant Coach account. You do need a paid plan on ChatGPT or Claude to use their connector features.
Can my clients connect their own AI tools? Not currently. The MCP connection is available to coaches only.
